Hi, my name is Christopher Rout. I started in real estate straight out of high school back in 1992. I was 'that guy in school who knew what he was going to be once he graduated.' In fact, it was in grade 10 when I made this life changing decision and proudly announced to my mom that "I was going to be a REALTOR!" Needless to say, she didn't immediately share my enthusiasm. My family is a family of REALTORS; my parents were REALTORS and I had two uncles who were in the business so I think my mom would have preferred for me to pursue a law career (as most moms probably do). I convinced my uncle to give me an after-school job in his office where I had the immense responsibility of photocopying the thermal faxes before they faded away AND placed mail in the appropriate mail boxes..lol :)<\/p>\r\n

Needless to say, I embarked on my career on my own. Over the years I've been involved in all kinds of opportunities, from being an assistant to a REALTOR\/OWNER, an independent REALTOR on my own, manager of an office, owner of a team and now owner of a couple offices. I also became one of a few REALTORS provincially who embarked on hiring a business coach to provide further training in team management, delivering exceptional client service, contract negotiations and contract law, human resources, aggressive online and print marketing and so much more! The real estate business has declined over the years and few (if any offices) actually provide training to agents. Those who want it have to go out into the world and seek it. However most don't and instead they make the decision to 'learn as you go', most often at the expense of home buyers and sellers.<\/p>\r\n

After spending years working for the 'major brand' in the business I realized that the direction of the real estate business is changing. The internet has made the consumer way more informative and thus more demanding (as is the case in most changing industries). Today’s consumer not only has more access to property information, they're also aware that the old days of newspaper print advertising and similar expenses have disappeared. However today most REALTORS are still charging the same rates! Consumers still want to use the services of a REALTOR; however, they no longer want to pay tens of thousands of dollars to do so.<\/p>\r\n
